Item Description

Jade is one of the most popular and sometimes valuable "non gem quality" stones in the world. It's virtually impossible to find completely transparent Nephrite / Jade, as the material is almost always translucent. The beautiful traditional green color is what attracts collectors, along with the rich history of the material. This piece is a wonderful carving featuring a "fan" or "tail" shape at the bottom, and a open-loop bale at the top, all carved out of the same piece. The carving has a fantastic green color, and is translucent for all intents and purposes. Now I don't know for certain if it has been treated, but my gut says that this one is likely untreated compared to others I've seen. It is a very attractive stone and truly glows when backlit. This stone is a pre-embargo import from many years ago, and would make a great addition to any gem collection as they are not as easy to purchase as they were years ago. Don't miss out on this material as mining in Myanmar is virtually at a standstill, and you can't find much in the way of any Myanmarese gems on the market in the last couple years.
