Item Description
A beautiful specimen comprising very thin, gemmy, colorless, prismatic crystals of "needle" Quartz covering nearly every square millimeter of the underlying matrix. If you look closely it almost appears as if there are two generations or depositions of Quartz as there are some crystals that are MUCH THINNER than others, which suggest to me that there was at least two periods of crystallization. You have to see it up close to really appreciate the tiny crystals in between the thicker ones. The largest crystal is about 6 mm long and they look beautiful up close. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1982). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
