Item Description

Exotic, showy and uncommon combination from a most obscure locale in Uganda - the Sipi caves. Striking radial sprays of glassy, acicular natrolite needles are richly and dramatically layered atop a carpet of natrolite needles on the large fossilized wood fragment matrix. A 2.0 cm cluster of gemmy, rich amber calcite rhombohedrons is a typical and excellent accessory. This impressive and most unusual two-sided piece from recent finds features minerals found in fossilized wood fragments from a pre-Pleistocene forest, that was near the Mount Elgon shield volcano (MINDAT). Some few of these specimens showed up for sale in Munich show of 2017-2018, and we bought to put away. This was one of the best in size range. We have not seen them again.
