Item Description

At first glance, I thought this piece was from the New Jersey Trap Rocks, I didn't expect to see India on the label. Although there are many world class zeolite species found in the Deccan Traps of India, we don't see very many Natrolites with Analcime like this. As a matter of fact, Analcime is incredibly difficult to find from any locality in India. Here we have a small cabinet display piece that is filled with off-white prismatic Natrolite crystals measuring up to 2.2 cm long which are associated with partial trapezohedral crystals of cream colored Analcime measuring up to 1.8 cm across sitting on a thin layer of matrix. The largest Analcime is partially "hollow" giving the impression that it might have been in the process of forming a pseudomorph or "cast". Some of the crystals are contacted, but you can see terminations on several of the Natrolites. A cool association specimen that would fill a spot in any zeolite or Indian trap rock collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7071). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
