Natrolite pseudomorph after Serandite with Analcime (ex Dr. Wouter van Tichelen Collection)

Item Description

The Poudrette Quarry is the site of one of the most significant mineralogical localities in the world. There are over 400 mineral species reported from this wildly prolific locality, along with MANY best in the world examples. Additionally, due to the complexity of the paragenesis in areas, there are many pseudomorphs from this locality, paring up species that are not seen from anywhere else in the world. This small cabinet display specimen features a fantastic pseudomorph / cast of white Natrolite which has completely replaced a stout, thick prism of preexisting Serandite. One end of the specimen is "terminated" in the sense that it's not really broken, but re-crystallized over. The other end is open and exposed so you can see into the hollow open cavity within. A pair of very good sized, sharp, lustrous, white trapezohedral crystals of Analcime measuring up to 2.6 cm across can be seen on the side of the specimen along with a few "stacked" groups of soft greenish-brown rhombic Siderite. A really cool specimen with good associations and excellent aesthetic form! Now that MSH is mostly off limits, collecting has been limited / reduced in recent years, so if you collect minerals from this world famous quarry, don't miss out on this attractive specimen.
