Item Description
Any New Jersey trap rock collector will tell you that some of the largest Analcime crystals in the world come from this famous locality. These crystals are well known for their large size, excellent form, and attractive crystals on matrix. You don't see many of these pieces on the market anymore, and they are known as some of the most classic of all Analcime crystals from New Jersey. This specimen features several nice, relatively sharp, chalk white trapzeohedra, which play host to prismatic "sprays" of Natrolite that are coated by grey drusy Quartz. The underside of the specimen shows an elongated striated "cast" after what was most likely preexsiting Anhydrite. A good display piece from this classic New Jersey trap rock locality. From the collection of Colorad geologist, Allen V. Heyl, for whom the species Aheylite was named.
