Natrolite (good sized gemmy crystal)

The Chimney Rock Quarry has existed since the early 1900s, and it's not your typical New Jersey trap rock quarry, because it might be best known for its copper specimens more than anything else. Additionally, this quarry has produced what are some of the largest and finest crystals of Natrolite in the world. These crystals are well known for their size, excellent form, and often good internal gemminess. As a matter of fact, certain crystals were so transparent and "clean" internally that they have yielded faceted stones up to 10 carats! This specimen is a wonderful, sharp, prismatic crystal colorless Natrolite, free of matrix. The crystal has a light coating on the exterior, but if you backlight it, and look through the termination, you can see it's fairly gemmy inside. No major damage that I can see with the naked eye. A very nice example from this classic New Jersey trap rock locality.
