Item Description
A very rarely seen specimen of well known Zeolite species, Natrolite from an obscure locality in Oregon. The species gets its name from the Greek natron, "soda," in allusion to its sodium content and lithos, "stone." This locality was reported by Rudy Tschernich in his book, Zeolites of the World, as vesicular basalt boulders, derived from underwater flows and brought to the beach by wave action, on the ocean beach. This piece features a pair of beautiful, white "sprays" of Natrolite with minor trapezohedra of Analcime on minor matrix. A very worthwhile thumbnail specimen of this obscure material, and a great opportunity for any U.S. mineral collector or a Zeolite collector.
