Item Description
Natrochalcite is an ultra-rare hydrated, sodium, copper sulfate the and the famous Chuquicatmata Mine of Chile is the Type Locality. Discrete, gemmy and lustrous, emerald-green natrochalcite crystals to 6 mm richly and attractively cover the porphyry matrix. This very fine old-timer has an around 100-year old A.E. Foote label glued to the bottom of the piece with a $12 price tag. $12 was very expensive for the early 1900s times, especially when you consider that fine English calcites cost a dollar or two then!! THis was a very highly valued specimen, indeed. Today, $1000 is not unreasonable for this important rarity.
