Item Description

A notably rare sample of Native Tin ''sand'' in a 2.5 cm vial from the Clarence River in New South Wales, Australia. The only locality info we have is the small hand-written note that accompanies the piece, and while I've seen reports of Tin coming from a few other river/alluvial localities in NSW, I've never seen anything labeled as coming from the Clarence River. A cool item for any fan of native elements.
From the worldwide mineral collection of Rich ("Dick") Hauck of New Jersey. Dick is an avid collector of minerals, books, and mining memorabilia, along with being an accomplished author in the mineral world. Arguably, his greatest claim to fame is being the co-founder of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Ogdensburg, NJ. Dick purchased the land on which the Sterling Hill Mine resides in 1988, and the museum has been running strong since.
