Item Description
It doesn't seem so unlikely that a common element like Silver should be fairly common from a world-famous locality like Langban, but this is honestly the first piece of this material that I can remember offering in the auctions. Perhaps it's rarer than I realized, but for a species as prominent as Silver from one of the world's most prolific localities, this is a big deal! The piece features a "leaf" of Native Silver aesthetically sitting on host rock matrix. The rich patina shows that the piece is an antique, though there is no informatio as to when it was mined. If you collect worldwide Silvers, minerals of Langban, or just European mienrals, you can't afford to miss out on this great rarity from this incredible locality in Sweden! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7402). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
