Embedded in, and growing from, a matrix of Silver and Arsenic ore, the Pohla Silvers are known for their extremely photogenic, fern-like crystals. These can grow as individuals, or densely packed as you see here. Presenting well from several angles, the intricate beauty is enhanced by the fine metallic luster. Good quality Silvers have made Pohla famous and specimens desirous to collectors, causing them them to be hard to obtain in any decade. Even more so when you consider these treasures we concentrated in a spectacular fine around 1990/91, when they were mined by the Soviets and stashed away. Finding one of these East German classics is a bonus on any specimen hunt. Though delicate, the crystals here are aesthetic and this small cabinet extremely rich. This is an exceptional, fine, attractive piece in the size range and similar can sometimes be seen at shows, when they turn up in old collections, in the $2500-5000 price range. 382 grams, approx a pound in weight!
