Item Description
River worn placer silver nuggets are RARE from the Beaverdell area. The well-known and extinct silver mines in the area produced beautiful and aesthetic wire silver specimens. This is a flattened lightly rounded nubby nugget, that certainly wasn't transported very far by a river or stream. Silver mining closed by 1941 in the area (MINDAT). Rare and choice silver from the Kay Robertson Collection # 57. An EARLY acquisition, with the very low collection number, probably dating to 1940s or earlier. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). mass is 5 grams
