Item Description

A very rich and showy, old-time, silver ore specimen from the famous mines at Oruro, Bolivia. Hackly silver microcrystals are shot through the quartz matrix in stringers, pods or as isolated crystals. Silver specimens are very rare from this noted locality, especially old-timers, such as this. The small A.E.Foote paper label glued to the back dates the piece to prior to 1905! Rich ore, hefty for its size at 155 grams. Ex Taylor and Robert Hauck Collections. The Taylors purchased the piece from Foote (note on the back of their label), in the early 1900s. Important locality piece, valued $750-1000
