Item Description
Tiny silvery native mercury droplets are visible on both sides of this very rich and showy small cabinet mercury ore specimen, that contains much wine-red cinnabar. The mercury mines at Spain's historic Almaden district have been exploited since the Roman era and are estimated to have produced 1/3 of total world production (MINDAT). See the excellent article in the 2019 Mineralogical Record, Vol. 50, No. 1. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection, a noted rarities collector.
