Item Description

A true, old-time, Michigan Copper Country mining artifact. A striking, flattened, radial, drill bit scar with exposed copper on one side is featured on the native copper specimen. The matrix is hackly copper, crystalline quartz and green epidote. The scar is 3.7 cm across and even has copper that was pushed up into the central hole where water was pumped to cool the bit!! The hole size probably indicates, that this was a shot hole drill for explosives. VERY seldom preserved. Extremely interesting and highy desirable! Ex Art Soregaroli Collection.
