Item Description
Sculptural, flattened two-sided small cabinet copper from the well-known Caledonia Mine from the historic Copper Country of Michigan. Very bright botryoidal copper (under a magnifying glass) is strikingly embedded with thermally altered basalt greenstone matrix on both sides. The specimen has been cleaned to enhance the rich, beautiful patina. The mine was intermittently active from 1863 until 2013 (MINDAT). The specimen was recovered while Red Metal Explorations owned the mine from 1985 until 2013. An excellent and showy matrix copper from the locale.
