Item Description
Sharp, tetrahexahedral, copper crystals form a sculptural, two-sided, floater specimen from this less well-known Nevada open pit copper mine. The dark crystals have a variable patina, from dark red with a cuprite coating to brown. Individual crystals reach about 7 mm and spinel-twinned forms on the bottom reach about 1.5 cm. The piece has a biomorphic look, perhaps like a dinosaur. Specimens of any variety from this locale are rarely on the market. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection, who labels states that this is from the Jack Parnau Collection and was mined in 1944. Rare older material.
