Item Description
A dramatic, sculptural, CABINET, sheet of native copper from the famous White Pine Mine of Michigan. This striking thick sheet looks like a torn, folded, curved and curled piece of tree bark with a nice coppery patina. Native copper was deposited in shale beds of the Nonesuch Shale, explaining the sheet-like form, but this piece must have been deformed during copper deposition. The White Pine was the last major copper mine to close in the historic Copper Country.
