Item Description
A dramatic, sculptural, LARGE CABINET, sheet of intergrown native copper plates from the famous White Pine Mine of Michigan. This striking piece looks biomorphic - like a stylized crouching lion with a huge head and mane of hair and extended tail! The bright patina and remaining shale, are a super accent. Looks great from either side! Native copper was deposited in shale beds of the Nonesuch Shale, explaining the sheet-like form. The White Pine was the last major copper mine to close in the historic Copper Country.
