Item Description

A dramatic, sculptural, LARGE CABINET, sheet of intergrown native copper plates from the famous White Pine Mine of Michigan. This striking piece looks just like a tropical fish with an elongated, paddle tail. The bright patina and remaining bits of shale, are a super accent. Looks great from either side! Native copper was deposited in shale beds of the Nonesuch Shale, explaining the sheet-like form. The White Pine was the last major copper mine to close in the historic Copper Country. Large plates like this are now hard to obtain on the market compared to even a decade ago
