Item Description
A really cool old-time specimen of Native Bismuth with Nickelskutterudite from the TYPE LOCALITY for both species. Now the label states that the piece is from a placed called the Schwarzwassertal (Black Water Valley), but I can't find a listing for this locality in any database. It features sharp, well-formed, skeletal crystals of somewhat bronze colored Native Bismuth associated with fairly massive silvery colored Nickelskutterudite in a Quartz seam on matrix. One rarely has the opportunity to purchase a piece of this classic and elusive material, so don't miss out! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12399) with a label from Staatl. Mineralien-Niederlage Freiberg. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
