Item Description

An impressive and frankly a rare specimen of native Antimony from Ashburton Downs Station, often referred to as Ashburton Downs. I can't say for certain if this piece is specifically from the Bali Lo Copper Mine, or somewhere else, but it's presumably from a new discovery, as we've never seen them before. For reference, Ashburton Downs is located about 42 miles west of Paraburdoo in the Pilbara Region. The piece is a hefty (601 grams) nodule that looks rather non-descript on the surface, but it's broken in the center, revealing the bright silvery metallic native Antimony within. Most Antimony you'll find on the market have a darker dull grey hue, so the bright shiny nature of this piece is really impressive. With a loupe, you can see there are platy trigonal faces (cleavages) all over the interior of the piece. A cool specimen that would make a great addition to any native element collection.
