Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of the copper bismuth vanadate, Namibite along with the equally rare calcium bismuth carbonate Beyerite from Namibia. The label on this piece says it's from "Kupfertal" in South West Africa (modern day Namibia), but I can't determine if it's from the Kaokoveld Plateau or the Khorixas District, since both of these species are found there. Both minerals are sitting on Quartz, and are truly micro examples of their repective species. Namibite is green, Beyerite is whitish. Namibite obviously gets its name after the country of Namibia, and Beyerite named after Adolph Beyer, a mining engineer of Schneeberg, Germany.
