Item Description
Cavnic is one of the great historic mining districts of Europe, with records dating back to 1336. This impressive and sculptural large combination specimen from modern production features a very artistic, well-placed, 7.5 cm bowtie of glassy, stacked, colorless, nailhead calcite rhombs in arborescent forms with another resting in the center. The unusual looking matrix is leaf-like, bladed dolomite with a sugary texture. The dolomite is actually epimorphs after flattened calcite rhombs. There is also a small, 1.0 cm, rosette of boulangerite-included calcite disks. Excellent combination material from this ancient locale from the Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued by Herb at $350, five or more years ago. Bright orange calcite fluorescence!
