Item Description

Nagyagite specimens from the famous Type Locality of Nagyag (now called Sacarimb), Romania are quite rare. This is extremely rich ore of this rare gold, tellurium sulfosalt. The splendent, laminar crystals in this one are of considerable size and well defined for the species, up to 1.5 cm. Not pretty to look at, but this is a significant example of the species and locale. The nagyagite vein completely encircles the matix fragment on one of the piece. This excellent and classic, old-timer probably dates to the 1800s, but no proof. Ex Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
