Item Description

An EXTREMELY RARE, old-time combination from this historic old tin mine, that operated from 1545 to 1991 (MINDAT). Nacrite is a rare Kaolinite Subgroup clay species, the polymorph of Dickite, Halloysite-7A and Kaolinite. This striking, unusual specimen is an oxidized cassiterite nodule with a core of earthy yellow-brown nacrite. Drusy microcrystalline white fluorite richly and preferentially coats some of the nacrite faces. Nacrite and fluorite are EXTREMELY RARE from this tin mine. Comes with an expertly written label from the Freiberg Mining Academy Mineral Dealership dating from 1851-1888! See the reference In the MIneralogical Record Biographical Archive: https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?page=1&colid=752. Ex David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named. Very rare, perhaps UNIQUE combination material from Altenberg.
