Mushroom Tourmaline (Soregaroli Coll.)

A cute and highly unusual small cabinet "mushroom tourmaline" from the small find at Mogok about 10 years ago. The cranberry, trigonal (heart shaped!), translucent bladed "cap" is vivid, cranberry when backlit and rises up from the partially covered "stem" of black schorl tourmaline. The rare and highly unusual aspects of this piece are the distinctive layering on all three sides. One end is partially contacted, but has minimal impact to the fine quality of the larger example. Scarce on the market today. An excellent and very rare in this style example from the Art Soregaroli Collection. Valued at $1000-1250.
