A cute and highly unusual thumbnail "mushroom tourmaline" from the small find at Mogok about 10 years ago. The lavender, trigonal, translucent bladed "cap" is vivid, rich pink when backlit and rises up from the partially covered "stem" of black schorl tourmaline. The rare and highly unusual aspects of this piece are the distinctive layering on all three sides and the gemmy, transparent center of the pinacoidal termination and the darker cranberry-red interior. Scarce on the market today. An outstanding, pristine and very rare in this style example from the Herb Obodda Collection # 4358. Valued at $950.
