Muscovite (var: Fuchsite) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Beautiful rich chrome green Fuchsite (a chromium-bearing Muscovite) is intermixed with dark green prismatic Actinolite. The label calls the locality Dorfer Alpe in the Tyrol of Austria, so I'm not 100% certain that the Dorferbach valley is the correct designation, because I can't find a listing for Fuchsite for this locality. There is a locality called the Dorfer Od in Austria where Fuchsite is reported, but it's not in the Tyrol. If anybody out there has more info on where this piece could be from, please let us know. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
