Item Description
A rarely seen specimen of the chromium-bearing variety of Muscovite, Fuchsite from the famed Lengenbach Quarry in the Swiss Alps. Over 170 minerals have been found at this locality, and Lengenbach is the type locality for 48 of them. This piece features a "vein"-like patch of rich green colored Fuchsite, sitting on the typical sugar Dolomite matrix. A great piece to add to any Lengenbach suite or a collection of worldwide Mica specimens. From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974. The piece is accompanied by a label from the Naturhistorisches Museum Bern (The Natural History Museum in Bern) and was collected in 1974.
