Item Description
A gorgeous small cabinet sized display specimen filled with well-formed, fairly thick, layered, semi-metallic, silvery colored hexagonal groups of Muscovite Mica measuring up to 3.8 cm across which are intergrown to create a showy and eye-catching "rosette" shaped specimen. The front / display side of the piece is in excellent shape, with only a few small peripheral contacts, although it is cleaved on the back where it was most likely peeled away from the pocket wall. One does not see Muscovite groups like this very often from any locality, and this one is not only in excellent condition, but it displays wonderfully, and shows excellent separation between the crystals. From the worldwide collection of Tom Campbell. Tom is a mineralogist and mineral collect who works with us here at The Arkenstone. He has over 35 years of experience in the fields of exploration geology, mining, and applied mineralogy, and has even more years under his belt as a collector! Tom has described many new species over the years, and discovered the rare phosphates Tiptopite, Fransoletite and Pahasapaite. Tom was also a co-author on the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Minerals. You can see a list of Tom's published works here ( https://www.irocks.com/thomas-j-campbell-publications-list ).
