Muscovite 'Flower' with Quartz and Schorl

Item Description

We do not normally associate the word "spectacular" with a mica specimen but....this is a spectacular combination of a pearly lustered, silvery-white multi-layered Muscovite rose with associated Quartz, Schorl and Garnets from Shigar, Pakistan. The Muscovite books are very "petal like" as they circle around the rough tourmaline center, with "petals" up to 2.5 cm in length. High quality aesthetic Muscovite specimens are difficult to find. This wonderful piece is from the Kurt Hefendehl collection and is a double-sided specimen. He preferred the display of the elegant Muscovite rose as his label number is on the opposite side usually indicating the base. However the "base" is composed of transparent, colorless terminated Quartz crystals, including a 9.1 cm double terminated Quartz crystal, with jet black Schorl Tourmalines up to 1.7 cm. There are also a few random 4 mm sized orange Garnets within the Muscovite petals. The DT Quartz crystal also contains some unknown fibrous inclusions. There is internal fracturing within the Quartz but all crystals are complete. A couple of nicks on the Quartz edges and a termination point are noted but it is still pretty incredible. Either view is a beautiful piece on its own. The fine clay coating the Muscovite has a yellow fluorescence. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl.
