Item Description

A specimen of the beautiful and elusive intense pink Muscovites from the Harding Mine in New Mexico. This piece was originally labeled as Margarite, which is a valid calcium-bearing Mica species, but it's not reported from the Harding Mine. Apparently all of the pink Mica from this mine is Muscovite, which is interesting due to the unusual color. Pearly groups of attractive, translucent Muscovite cover the underlying Quartz and Albite matrix. Very hard to find on the market, and if you collect minerals from the U.S. or worldwide Mica species, then don't miss out on this beautiful small cabinet display specimen. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#103). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
