Item Description
A hard to find specimen of Mottramite from Tiger featuring a rich coverage on three sides of sparkling, deep chocolate brown micro crystals. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the piece is not the Mottramite, but the various fluorescent minerals that show up under UV light. Most people don't think of Tiger as being a fluorescent mineral producer, but this piece has several fluorescent species present. There are spots of bright green (possibly Willemite) along with a rich reddish-pink hue (likely Calcite) along with a beautiful pale blue fluorescence from an unknown mineral. A really cool specimen for any fan of Tiger minerals or interesting fluorescent specimens. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5098). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecor... ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
