Item Description

Engaging textural landscape consisting of dark to olive green botryoidal spires and bubbly masses of Mottramite intermixed with contrasting clear calcite rhombs. The arborescent mottramite creates a nice three-dimensional specimen with good vertical relief. The side views which are highlighted by the stark olive green color, exhibit an engaging view of the botryoidal growth habit. The Calcite crystals are translucent and lustrous with well formed sharp, crystal faces that have a slight greenish tinge to some of them. The largest of the Calcites measuring up to 1.2 cm across. There are a few incomplete botryoids across the specimen, but it is considered acceptable for this older Tsumeb piece. A great combination specimen with outstanding contrasting textures between the curved, smooth botryoids, and the sharp angular Calcites. Donated to the MINDAT auction by Wendel Minerals.
