Agate defined as a variety of chalcedony (microcrystalline Quartz) which forms in layers and sometimes in a variety of colors and textures. One of the most well known forms from Montana is Moss Agate, and is highly sought after amongst collectors. High quality Montana Agates can be as impressive in their play of color and beautiful patterns. Agate is suitable for any kind of jewelry, including rings. This cabochon gem is a beautiful example showing good translucency with blackish "spots" set against a very light colored background. Great quality and size, and perfect for any collector.
