Item Description

Mosandrite is a rare REE-silicate and this rare combination specimen is from the Type Locality in Norway. A crust of light brown mosandrite coats the stair-stepped front of a partially euhedral allanite-(Ce) crystal. The layered crystal is lustrous to matte-black and is hefty for its size at 96 grams. Please refer to the MINDAT Norway photo gallery for mosandrite for a similar looking specimen from the Bristish Museum. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection. Seldom on the market from the Type Locality.
