Item Description

Morrison Ranch Jasper (sometimes called Morrisonite) is a beautiful multi-colored Jasper found in Owyhee Canyon, in eastern Oregon. The material gets its name from a man named James Morrison, who is said to have first found the stones on his ranch. I've seen this material marketed as the "King of Jaspers", probably because of its beautiful patterns and wide range of colors. It's become quite popular in the metaphysical world, as it is said to be a stone that will allow its owner to find a sense of calm and peacefulness, something that I'm sure a lot of people are looking for these days. This stone is a wonderful, good sized "Rectangle Cabochon" cut gem showing mixed bands/patterns with colors ranging from deep red hues to muted greens with tan, orange and beige tones here and there. I found a blog post from snobappealjewelry.com that states the material hasn't been mined since 1996, and if that report is accurate, we're closing in on 30 years since these gems have been available on the market, so don't miss out on this big showy stone for your collection, a "pocket stone" or as a big center stone in a pendant.
