John Barlow assembled one of the finest private mineral collections in the United States and the world, prior to his death in 2004. One of his proudest accomplishments was self-publishing the impressive book, The F. John Barlow Mineral Collection (1996), which describes and pictures the extensive collection he built. I obtained this excellent and beautiful cluster of sharp, gemmy, pastel-pink morganite crystals in a deal with John in the late 1990s and got him to autograph his label. The UNRETOUCHED backlit photo highlights the gemminess and gorgeous pink color saturation of the crystal. Morganites from the famous Stewart Mine are RARE and to have an autographed John Barlow label really adds panache to this very fine rarity.
