Item Description
Classic material from Brazil. There are only a few places in the world where good Morganite crystals are found, and outside of Afghanistan, Brazil is the only consistent source of material these days. Here we have a gorgeous, gemmy, very light pink color, fairly thick, tabular hydrothermally ethced crystal of Beryl (var: Morganite) from Coronel Murta. Due to the nature of the crystal, it was somewhat difficult to photograph, but it's actually pretty gemmy when backlit. It's very cavnerous from the heavy etching, but there are a few places where it's notably smooth and lustrous (un-etched) on each pinacoid. This there is a unique oppositing between the sharp etched faces and the glassy "c" faces. You can say that this crystal is technically doubly-termianted. Very attractive and just a "different" kind of Morganite from this classic locale. Weight is 109.90 grams. Priced in the inventory at $700.
