Item Description

There are plenty of localities in the world that produce Beryl crystals in a myriad of colors, but these particular pieces from Baha, Pakistan are certainly some of the most distinctive examples from anywhere. This showy small cabinet sized piece dates back to the early 2000s and is a unique rarity for Beryl, as it's unusual to find bi-color crystals from any locality, and it's even more captivating when you have blue Aquamarine and pink Morganite together in the same specimen. This specimen features a robust, well-formed, sharp, thick, hexagonal crystal with a "blue cap" Aquamarine termination and a wonderful pink Morganite hue throughout the rest of the prism. The crystal measures 4.5 cm long, and it beautifully sitting on off-white Albite matrix. I've only seen a select few of these pieces on MATRIX, and this is certainly one of the biggest individual crystals I've seen from the locality. If you flip the piece over, you'll see that the Beryl is actually doubly-terminated, as a little bit of the other basal termination is poking through the Albite. I love the fact that there is a distinctive cut off point where one color/clarity stops and the other begins. It's important to note that it is a great rarity to find prismatic Morganite in nature, which might be the most important aspect of the piece, since nearly all other Morganite crystals in nature are tabular. Any collector who loves unusual and colorful gem crystals should grab this one at a bargain price. Priced at $6,000 for the size, quality and genuine rarity for Beryl. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl, a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
