Item Description
A very rarely seen example of the hydrated nickel sulfate Morenosite from the Svornost Mine in the Czech Republic. The species was named after Antonio Moreno Ruiz, a Spanish chemist who lived from 1796 to 1852. Small, semi-acicular "tuft"-like groups of pale blue Morenosite can be seen on the matrix of this specimen under high magnification. If you're a rare mineral collector, be sure to pick this one up. We photographed the crystals with a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens to better illustrate its quality. This piece comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371
