significant, large Morenci Azurite 'Rose'

Blocky crystals of intensely blue Azurite cluster together to form an outstanding, and quite large, rosette that is complete 360 degrees all around, a total floater! This is a gorgeous, significant example of this rare style for Morenci. The crystals average over 1 cm in size, and their rotational pattern in the rosette creates a great visual, which is only added to by a two-toned blue color adding even more visual texture. Collected in a significant find of March of 1998, this is true Arizona classic in this highly desirable, striking form. This is the only time that Morenci produce Azurite Roses that could be confused with the old turn of teh 1900s era Bisbee roses, and although these do not sell for the same premium as a confirmed Bisbee specimen, they sure can look the same to most of us. Valued $2000-2500. Also formerly in the Dan McHugh collection, This was recently deaccessed from the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
