Item Description

Very soft to the touch, felt-like balls of acicular mordenite crystals fill a sculptural vug in the small cabinet basalt matrix on this rich and aesthetic specimen from a less well-known Pune District locale. The broken spheres on the vug fringe reveal the radial growth of the shimmering mordenite needles, adding pizzazz and character. Mordenite specimens, a Zeolite Group species, are uncommon from the well-known Pune District and this is a very fine and rich example from the small quarry of Chinchwad, one of the older mines.
