Item Description

Showy and RARE combination geode from obscure Chinchwad in the well-known Pune District of Maharashtra. Striking snow-white balls, to about 1.2 cm, of spiky Mordenite, a Zeolite Group species, richly and dramatically line a deep geode lined with pale sparkly Amethyst crystals. An impressive, about 2.8 cm on edge, translucent, brown-sugar Calcite rhombohedron dominates the back of the vug with smaller Calcites approaching the front with the Mordenite balls. A single 5mm pearlescent, colorless Stellerite crystal is noted by one of the small calcites. Ex Dr. Vasco Trancoso Collection and illustrated in the MINDAT Photo Gallery for the locale. An exceptional and rare combination geode from the locality, and just a really neat mineral!
