Item Description

Moonstone is a varietal name used for translucent opalescent Feldspar (typically Microcline or rarely Orthoclase). Most often, Moonstone gems are polished into cabochons, and every once in while a rare "Cat's Eye" will appear. This is one of the very few "Cat's Eye" Moonstones that we've had to offer in the auctions in a while. This stone is a wonderful "Round" cabochon cut gem with a distinct "eye" that runs across the center of the stone in strong concentrated lighting. The stone is mostly colorless, but when it is viewed by reflected light, exhibits a very faint bluish "sheen". This is a very attractive and hard to find Moonstone which is highly desirable among collectors.
