Moonstone (multi-piece rough and cut set)

Item Description

Moonstone is the varietal name given to Feldspar that shows a reflective, silvery or bluish iridescent sheen when rotated in the light, sometimes called "adularescence". Here we have a multi-item rough and cut set featuring one specimen and three gemstones. The specimen in this set features sharp, blocky, translucent crystals from Tvedestrand, Norway measuring up to 2.1 cm and when they're rotated in the light, you can see a slight blue sheen. Both of the "Emerald" faceted gems are from India and feature a soft golden interior when viewed in direct light, but if you rotate them, you can clearly see the iridescence. They measures 7.50 mm x 7.31 mm, 2.11 cts and 8.60 mm x 6.62 mm, 2.51 cts respectively. Lastly the "Oval" cabochon gem has the best clarity of all three gemstones, and is virtually colorless but you can still see a slight sheen when you look at it under a strong light. The cabochon measures 7.58 mm x 5.92 mm, 1.35 cts. It should be noted that this material was labeled as being "Oligoclase", but Feldspars can be tricky, so I can't verify if they are actually Oligoclase or another Feldspar species.
