A RARE and surreal smoky quartz and montmorillonite combination from the famed White Queen Mine. Pretty pink montmorillonite clay is dramatically included or coats a fantastic doubly terminated smoky quartz crystal. This sculptural quartz crystal has stunning water-clear faces, which clearly show the cavities lined with montmorillonite and striking adjacent milky quartz faces! A fabulous and nearly pristine, 360-degree specimen. The back of the upper termination is dinged, but has little impact to the superlative quality of this rarity. The smooth prism and termination faces have been polished to accentuate the incredible charcter of this piece. This important White Queen Mine specimen is probably from the mid-1960s finds, that produced a large amount of quartz with montmorillonite. From an East Coast collection.
