Item Description
A fine, RARE and rich specimen with colorful patterns of the green, yellow, white and green phosphates, variscite, crandallite, wardite, and montgomeryite from the famous Utah locality of the Little Green Monster Variscite Mine. This particular piece has pretty areas of mint-green variscite. The gray wardite separating and surrounding the variscite is a stark contrast. This is the Type Locality for wardite AND the much more rare species MOntgomeryite named after Arthur Montgomery. The small "eyespots" consist of darker green montgomeryite, AND this piece hosts incredibly rare clusters of RARE bright green montgomeryite lathes to about 3 mm in a seam on one side. Most of the matrix is yellow crandallite. This is rare, excellent, old-time and choice combination material from this famed locale. Old material, no longer found like this! Probably collected by Art Montgomery himself, prior to 1940, as all these old specimens I have ever seen are said to date t ohis finds. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. Valued ? Valued $800-1000 for rare crystals, size and the richness of all the colors.
